Evaluating the Impact of Safeguarding Training

Introduction

Working Together to Safeguard Children (Chapter 3, page 67) outlines the role and responsibility of Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) to “monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training, including multi-agency training, to safeguard and promote the welfare of children”.

The Redbridge LSCB is committed to quality assuring both single and multi-agency safeguarding training and has set out the process of evaluation of training on page 2 of the LSCB Framework and Principles for Safeguarding Children Training .

Training Transfer

For training to have a positive impact on improving safeguarding practice, there is a requirement for ‘training transfer’ which is the process by which learning gets into practice.  The LSCB has shared the Research in Practice  resource document on training transfer with both training delegates, managers and training providers.  The document is available to London Borough of Redbridge and key LSCB partner agencies via the Research in Practice website.
