Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)
The LSCB works closely with Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in Redbridge, which is run by Refuge on behalf of the London Borough of Redbridge. Violence against women and girls can affect anyone but everyone has the right to live in safety. Refuge run a number of services for victims of domestic and gender based violence, including men at high risk of harm from domestic violence. The service provides confidential, non-judgemental, independent specialist support one a one-to-one or group basis. The Refuge team in Redbridge includes specialist gender-based violence advocates to support women and men who are at risk of serious harm; a young people’s advocate – which is a specialist service for young girls aged 14 – 17 years old; and a children’s outreach worker – a specialist service for children and the non-abusing parent.
